Community Garden

Community Garden In our Community Garden we will:
  • Present an opportunity for greater community engagement and interaction including youth, the elderly, newcomers, and people at risk of being socially isolated
  • Offer informal skill development of sustainable gardening practices
  • Provide a basis for economic development by production and sale of organically grown fruits and vegetables
  • Increase tourism opportunities through regular markets, workshops and garden tours.

Our group is now 12 months young and we have established a garden within the Abbeyfield Society (district of Barossa) accommodation complex where we have a Community plot along with a number of plots for rent.

We meet monthly although there are a number of working bees during which time the site is developed and fellowship is enjoyed.

A number of our members visit other Community Gardens and bring back ideas and stories of success.
